In this project, we need to choose one music/song that we like and design a LP jacket, sleeve, and label for the song. The design needs express and match with the mood/style of music visually. Also, we need to create the design by using images and unique mark makings.
For this project, I chose one of my favorite Japanese band called, SEKAI NO OWARI. It means "End of the World" in English. The band composes with 4 members and all the members are childhood friends: Nakajin(Guitar/Leader), Fukase(Vocal), Saori(Piano), DJ Love(Sonic Palette/Pierrot). They have many different albums but I decided to do an album called, "Tree". This is the most famous album that the band could start to sell their name through this.

Their songs are mostly very bright and hopeful. The lyrics are also very beautiful and magical. Overall the mood of the songs is created based on fantasy. They often use methorpore in their lyrics which makes the lyrics more beautiful. When I listen their song I feel like clam and get healing throught the songs.

For the mark makings, as I mentioned above, I tried to created them to express their mood of songs well. To express their unique mood, I created the marks based on geometric shapes and lines (straight/curved).
Mark Making
I wanted to express mood of magical, fantastical, and brightness by the mark makings. Also, I wanted to put images that relate to the band members. Most of my sketches were inspired by their lyrics and melody of the songs. For my message, I tried to show and send brightness and magical feeling at the same time.

For the computuer work, first, I selected many different colors as my background.

I also had three different choice of pattern colors.

Althought I chose top three background colors, I re-chose dark color as my background color and used their official band logo.

However, while I was developing my work, I thought the dark background and logo did not match with their mood of songs in the album, "Tree". So, I changed the background color and chose and typed the font for the band name and title of the album.

Through the long progress, I finally created my jacket covers, sleeves, and label. I created the sleeves and label with simple design based on the jacket cover designs. These are my final design for jacket, sleeves, and label of SEKAI NO OWARI's album "Tree".
