Mexico Mailers / WIP
For this project, I am going to create a mailer for a B Gallery in Columbus, Ohio. An artist that I chose to exhibit at the gallery is Alberto Cerriteño, who is a Mexican illustrator/designer. The exhibition will be opened on March 21, 2018 and sponsored by Mexican tourist office.

Mood board about the artist
About Alberto Cerriteño
Alberto Cerriteño is a Mexican freelancer illustrator/designer who is currently living in Portland, USA. He creates the illustrations mainly by hands but he also uses the Adobe Photoshop and Illustration occasionally. Alberto’s arts are mainly inspired by urban vinyl toys, cartoons, and pop surrealism movement. Then, he develops these inspirations by combining his personal art skill and traditional Mexican art. Majority of his artworks are created with the simple shape but well combined with decorative pattern and texture. Thus, his illustrations bring unique impression to the viewers. He often draws the illustrations of animals, humans, and monsters as a theme. Even though he is well known as the illustrator, he also has several experiences of designing posters, packages, shoes, skateboard, kokeshi doll, etc. As Alberto has his own particular/unique style, he has been participated and collaborated various art projects with many art & design companies around the world. He also experiences several times of solo exhibitions and galleries.

Mood board about inspirations of die cut and style
This is my inspiration board of die cut and style that I want to refer to my mailer design. For the die cut design, I want to apply a simple die cut on my mailer cover. The idea is the illustration is shown through the hole of the die cut. I also think about decorative shape/pattern of die cut because my artist often uses patterns in his illustrations. For the style of the mailer, I will be focused on using repetitive simple patterns in several pages.

Tumble fold sketches
This is the sketches of tumble fold mailer. I also put the patterns and illustrations but for this world, I inserted the patterns from one specific illustration for each mailer design. Thus, the overall designs are simpler than gate fold designs.

Gate fold sketches
This is the sketches of gate fold mailer. I put diverse patterns and illustrations from different Alberto's works as my design components.

Semi-final sketch (Gate fold)
This is a semi-final sketch of the mailer. The mailer will be used gate fold.

This was my first draft gate fold mailer. I decided to combine my tumble fold design components and gate fold. However, I was not satisfied while I was working, so I changed my mind to focus on designing and developing my original gate fold design/sketch.

This is the screenshots of working progress. From left to right, each screenshot shows the progress of outside (InDesign), inside (InDesign), and front cover (Illustrator) of the mailer.
